About Me
My name is Marie Helen and the Nook has grown out of more than 25 years in education settings and roles including specialist teacher, assessor and SENCo and a personal journey which has incorporated late diagnosis of ADHD (aged 49) and Autism (aged 52).
Over her career I have trained in, incorporated and delivered a variety of therapeutic and education based tools and activities and continues to add to a suite of holistic tools which mean each child can be met where they are and supported in the ways that they need.
My Approach
This work is about helping children and those who support them in accepting, valuing and giving space for all their unique qualities and strengths even when they are different to those around them, understanding difference is not a weakness and there is space in the
world for all ways of being which lead to all sorts of possibilities.
It is about accepting and expressing emotions, developing holistic approaches to healing difficult experiences and emotions which otherwise can be trapped inside, leak out or inform more damaging ways of coping with life experiences.
The Nook is also about self discovery including psychometric assessments uncovering hidden unique learning profiles incorporating individual experiences of language, literacy, processing and memory strengths and challenges which helps schools and parents support children and young people in accessing education as effectively as possible but also provides insight and self awareness for the child to take into their future.
At The Nook, children and young people are received with acceptance and curiosity and are offered a variety of tools and experiences to help them gain greater confidence and greater sense of self worth through a personalised and holistic approach.
Future projects include Emotional Freedom Therapy (Tapping), Yoga and Breathwork, Mindful Emotional Coaching and training for adults supporting children.
Group work around coaching and therapeutic play will also be available in the future.
